Bonding and Veneers

Veneers imageWhat is bonding in dentistry?

Bonding is a straightforward cosmetic dental solution that has the benefit of being just as efficient as it is effective. Bonding can often be completed in a single dental appointment, meaning that you can get a lasting solution for a decayed, cracked, discolored, or misshapen tooth in a lunch break from work.

The bonding process is simple. After an initial exam, we will match the shade of composite resin to the color of your teeth, ensuring the bonded portion looks completely natural. We will buff your tooth to make a rough surface for the resin to adhere to, then apply it using a liquid adhesive. Once the bonding is shaped, we will harden it using UV light. If further adjustments are needed at that time, we will make them — then send you on your way!

Many patients choose bonding to fix issues with one or more teeth. Bonding is relatively affordable, and there is a chance that your dental insurance will cover the treatment. Prior to the procedure, we will ensure you understand what coverages you have and what remaining costs you may still be responsible for.

Who is a good candidate for veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that fit directly over your tooth enamel. They are among the most dramatic and effective ways to achieve a complete smile makeover. Whether you’re looking to reshape and perfect your otherwise healthy smile with veneers, or you’d like to use veneers to cover crooked, stained, chipped, or damaged teeth, we can discuss the best treatment option for your goals. Veneers can also help repair the smiles of individuals who have overcome gum disease.

Does getting veneers hurt?

The majority of patients report that getting veneers are completely comfortable. During the process, which may take two or three visits, we will examine your teeth and talk to you about your goals. In preparation for making the veneers, we will trim down a bit of your existing tooth surface to make room for them. If you have tooth sensitivity during this process, we can use a bit of local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. Once the veneers are custom made for your smile, we attach them using cement and harden it with a UV light.

Whether you’re getting dental bonding or considering veneers, you can expect the same excellent service you’ve come to expect from Drs. Gordon and Brooks Green and Dr. Nichole Barnett. Let us help you elevate your smile — and your confidence in it — with bonding or veneers. We can discuss the treatment options that are best for you at your next appointment.
